Get to know a little more about the Smart Grid with industry experts this January 8, 2011 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The half day event will fuse experts from consumer electronics, electric utility, government and research sectors to discuss the possibilities of in-home use of the Smart Grid. The “Smart Grid Homes” (SGH) Summit will address the interests of those industries and the use of the Smart Grid.
A previous report indicated that few residents completely understand the use of their personal Smart Grid, a device that electronically connects their electricity, allowing them to save time and money in the process. For industry experts, the same is true – but Pike Research provided research to identify cost effective opportunities for Smart Grid business users, doubling to $4.9 billion in just five years.
"As Smart Grid technologies are deployed, there is tremendous opportunity to make the home smarter, more efficient and more cost-effective for consumers," said Anto Budiardjo, president, Clasma Events. "With many emerging Smart Grid players attending CES, there is no better place to co-locate this event. If you're a consumer electronics company that's not playing in the Smart Grid space today, you will be tomorrow. And SGH is the ideal forum to learn about the vast and evolving business opportunities within the growing Smart Grid sector."
The event taking place in Sin City will introduce experts in the race to obtain billion dollar Smart Grid savings, including Brian Markwalter, vice president of technology and standards at Consumer Electronics Association; Dr. George Arnold, national coordinator for Smart Grid interoperability at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Jason Few, president at Reliant Energy.
