The City of Atlanta, GA, is partnering with RecycleBank, Rehrig Pacific Company and Coca-Cola Recycling for a pilot program designed to increase recovery rates. Through the initiative, 10,000 households will be given a 96-gallon blue cart, retrofitted with an ID tag with the resident's household address and RecycleBank account number. RecycleBank's mission is to team up with cities and haulers to reward households for recycling.

Recycling trucks in Atlanta have been equipped with technology to read the cart ID tag. Households in the city will earn RecycleBank Points with every pick-up.

Rehrig Pacific Company, a manufacturer of sustainable, reusable packaging and containers, has agreed to provide the bins.

Coca-Cola Recycling LLC was formed to recover and recycle packaging materials developed and used by the company. Through sponsorship dollars, Coca-Cola Enterprises enabled the purchase of 10,000 Rehrig Pacific blue recycling carts for Atlanta's new program.
