Enviva LP
, a United States and Europe based wood pellet and processed biomass fuel manufacturer, has completed the acquisition of CKS Energy Inc, a privately held wood pellet manufacturer for commercial, industrial and residential use.

CKS is based out of Amory, Mississippi and is one of the few U.S based companies with a successful track record of manufacturing and exporting sustainable, high-quality wood pellet biomass fuel for utility customers. Many customers are Europe based, where the use of wood pellets is highly integrated into every area of the energy sector.

“As we continue to increase our US manufacturing footprint, we are particularly excited about this acquisition. Strategically, CKS is an excellent fit, providing Enviva with a robust and stable fiber supply chain and easy access both to our key European customers as well as to customers in the upper Midwest,” stated Enviva Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Keppler. “Through this acquisition we look forward to increasing our production of sustainably manufactured wood pellets to meet increasing demand from utilities, power companies, businesses and consumers in Europe and the United States.”

Within the following months, Enviva plans on hiring additional staff to operate the facility, which is to be named Enviva Pellets™ Amory, in addition to expanding its production from a current capacity of 50,000 tons to a capacity of more than 100,000 tons per year. The facility will mainly provide services to the Company’s long term customers based out of Europe. Plus, raw biomass materials will be sourced locally. The Company maintains an environmental, safety and forestry staff to adhere to best practices in sustainable harvesting, and ensure that all biomass resources are produced by internationally recognized third party certification standards, for example SFI or FSC.
