Its Click Clean venture releases reports each year naming, shaming, or praising big companies for their efforts (or lack thereof) towards cleaning up the planet. Since 2011, it has used a simple grading and colour code system to highlight these issues, and this year, Apple tops the lot with A’s across the board, closely followed by Facebook and Google.
Many companies of this calibre have shown willing to make changes in order to adhere to expectations. Sustainability is a constant concern globally, and the business world is under pressure from all angles to improve its impact on the world. Greenpeace has openly attacked companies which have failed to release even basic information about their energy consumption, and created its index based on individual energy demands weighed against renewable energy usage.
